As someone who has worked from home for nearly my entire professional career, I have learned a thing or two (or four) about creating a clean, organized workspace!
It’s so easy for your workspace to turn into a chaotic disaster if you aren’t careful! That’s why I’ve compiled a list of my 4 tips for creating a clean, organized workspace and maximizing your productivity! And since I’m sure you’re busy with work, we’ll jump right in!

- Pick a time to do a clean sweep of the place. Literally schedule it! I like to do this at the end of each day so I start fresh each morning! I start by taking EVERYTHING off my desk except for my computer. That’s right, everything! I keep cleaning wipes next to my desk so I can wipe everything down after a day of working, snacking, and coffee-sipping. Once it’s all clean you can go back and start putting the essentials back on the desk.

- Keep it simple! I know how those first few days working from home feels. And I bet you’re wanting to get every single color coordinated item in the office supply section of Target BUT YOU DON’T NEED TO DO THAT. I’m serious! Clean and simple is best so you won’t get distracted by your Pinterest-worthy home office! I like to keep my planner, notepad and my favorite fast drying pens on my desk and forget the rest! My new favorite pen is the Sarasa Grand Gel Retractable Pen from Zebra Pen because not only is it sleek and stylish, but it dries faster than any other pen I’ve used. This means I can quickly write down ideas as they pop in my head without worrying about smudging the ink!
Staying organized can be difficult, but the Sarasa Grand helps keep me on track as it’s a great pen for to-do lists. If you are looking for a unique pen to get excited about, then check out information here to see how you can Choose Different with Zebra Pen.

- Make sure your “co-workers” know that your home office space is for work only! A dedicated workspace and office supplies can trick your mind into getting into work mode and focusing on your job instead of everything else going on! I like to keep the same pens, planner and notepad at my desk so my brain knows I mean business when I pick them up! (But I know your husband and kids will want to “borrow” your new pens so be sure to grab extras and keep them hidden)

- Take meaningful breaks. One thing I think a lot of people miss out on while working in an office is time to clear their head in fresh air. I know this isn’t technically an “organizational skill” but it’s important. Instead of beating yourself down at your desk, take a few minutes to take a walk, do some yoga, or even watch some funny videos with your kids!
I hope these tips help you keep a clean and organized workspace and allow you to be as productive as possible during your workday so you can enjoy your time off with family and friends!
XO, Lauren
